Nigel came home yesterday afternoon with a huge smile on his face, he'd been mooching in the 50p basket in the Salvation Army Shop and had found "treasure" for Darrell .......
....... to wit a hand crafted Christmas pudding hat!
As he selflessly presented it to Darrell the atmosphere in the Towers became charged with a very tangible and palpable sense of emotion ........
Darrell was momentarily struck dumb from the total spontaneity of the gift, he "totally, totally, totally, LOVED, LOVED, LOVED" it ...............it was soooooooooo him and something he had already sort of set his heart on.
....... How on earth did Nigel know that Hugh had only just told him that Christmas puddings were tres, tres de rigueur and a la mode in London this festive season and that anyone who was considered to be anyone in his intimate circle of showbiz friends was "absolutely" wearing them in one form or another ......
...... and as such Darrell had decided that he really needed to look for an honest Christmas pudding statement piece so that he wouldn't be found wanting this season, and Nigel had beaten him to it! It has to be said that a great many tears were shed. The fact that Darrell's hat had been hand-knitted, possibly had some age to it and could also be classified as pre-owned/loved gave it the sort of provenance that someone as knowledgeable about the fashion industry as Hugh would immediately recognise as a very serious item of festive gay apparel, Nigel had come up trumps yet again, bless him, and Darrell just didn't know how to thank him enough.
