Living La Vida Lockdown – Day 74 – Desperate Measures ……..

Poor Darrell has been stressing something awful about his hair ……..

Make Up Mirror

…… after 75 odd days in lockdown “It was,” he said “completely out of control” and he now resembled  Worzel Gummidge on a really bad day …….

Mirror Mirror

……. and to make matters worse, goodness only knows when his usual hairdresser would be allowed to ply her trade again ….. and even when she was, he would probably have to wait weeks, even months to get an appointment.  Darrell was truly having a meltdown meltdown and I am sure I could hear sobs coming from the bedroom.

Poor Nigel was very concerned, knowing how Darrell’s hair was (once) his pride and joy ……….

Desperate Measures

…… so took the nettle by the sword, deciding that it would just look rude not to offer to have a little go at it himself, a little bit off here and a little bit off there ………

Hairdresser to the stars

…..  how difficult could it be, and if it all went wrong, Darrell could simply shave it all off, because, except for our lovely neighbour Kata, no one else would see it until it had almost grown back if lockdown continued.

And, unbelievably Darrell agreed, the bacon scissors were duly got out and, I hasten to add, scrupulously cleaned!

The trickiest part, Nigel said, was Darrell’s fringe, adding that in the end, he just held his breath and went for it, before he and Darrell had a chance to chicken out.

Hairdressing In Lockdown

Let’s just say that by the time the little fella had finished it was emotional, very emotional.  The boy “dun gud”, Darrell was over the moon with the results ……. who’d have thunk it ?

Satisfied customer

Nigel, it seems, has a natural sympathy and aptitude for the hirsute, so much so that Darrell is now considering taking him on as his new, full time (and free) coiffeur.  What are they both like?

Well done Nigel! Those were big scissors, for such a small monkey.

Tonsurephobia, from the Greek word tonsure, is the fear of getting a haircut.

Nigel is a monkey of many talents, I’m thinking you might not return to the hairdressers at all after the lockdown?!
