Living La Vida Lockdown–Day 76 - Nigel Unshielded Aghhhhh

Darrell and I have tried our very best to shield Nigel from noticing one or two of the varied activities that have floated past The Towers during our seventy odd days in meltdown ………

IMG_5540

……. the paddle boards, canoes ……..

IMG_5247

…… and especially the swimmers ……..

IMG_5601

……. but within minutes of him leaving the flat yesterday afternoon we knew we were a gonna ……

IMG_5600

….. because there was not just one ……..

IMG_5591

……. or two …….. or even three ……

IMG_5594

…….. of those pesky swimmers to turn his head…….

IMG_5602

…….. but flipping four of the blighters!

IMG_5604

Well, as you can imagine, he was almost beside himself, recanting how they had all stopped short of the weir to exchange tales of their adventures, where they’d hit weeds or their own personal swimming “wall” or collided with a Canada Goose ……..

IMG_5605

…… before turning round from whence they came to do it all again, but in the opposite direction.

IMG_5595

He said he found it very emotional, the thought of being at one with the fish, swans, ducks and nature, while being totally social distancing free ……..

IMG_5611

……. adding that perhaps the thrill of wild water swimming could be something we might consider, not only as an opportunity for Darrell to dust off his beloved budgie smugglers but also as a truly bonding experience, with safety in numbers and all that.

Let’s just say Darrell and I were both remained resolutely noncommittal,  pointing out, as Nigel had also excitedly told us, that the fishing season was almost upon us and experiencing the wrath of a fisherman finding one of us at the end of his line, let alone being thrown unceremoniously into someone’s keep net was definitely not on our list of must do summer experiences.

The poor little fella was momentarily crestfallen ………

IMG_5599

…….. until he also remembered the unicyclist who’d whizzed past him during his walk ……. oh my life, the river has a lot to answer for!

Sunday 31st March straight to Sunday 7th June? What is going on? We seem to have lost a week.

Wow - long distance swimmers and a unicyclist, all in one day.

Déjà vu all over again?

This post appeared seven days ago. And promptly disappeared again. What is going on? Is Nigel being sneaky?

Oh WoW -lots of activity down by the river. I think I'll give the river swimming and certainly the unicycling a miss I think. But fun to watch. JantheFan x
