Because of meltdown we’ve been waiting since March 4th to get our mitts on some Marmite Butter, our very favourite savoury spread of choice.
Only available in all good Marks and Spencer food halls, it meant that Darrell had to make a special trip to the retail park up the road to get it, but since he needed some other bits and pieces, including some Percy Pigs (for his cocktail cabinet), it would have been rude not to check they had any in stock.
At £3.00 for a small, 100gm roll of the marmite infused delicacy, the cost made poor Darrell’s eyes water, but after almost 3 months of being pretty frugal as far as essential shopping has been concerned, he threw caution to the wind and bought it anyway, “We,” he said “jolly well deserved a special treat!”
After much thought he decided our first taste should simply be served on toast.
We were NOT disappointed ……….
…….. after waiting for so long to try it, when all we could do was debate its pleasures ……..
……. it was no found wanting. It was wonderful. A full 180 on our Richter scale of noms and you can’t get much higher than that!
At just 100gms, it’s not going to last very long at The Towers, so we need to savour every single morsel, because, sadly, at that price we simply can’t afford to add it as one of our a staple comestibles, no matter how lovely, but …….. we’ve decided to make a promise to treat our selves to a pack on each of our birthdays and special holidays, like Christmas and Easter, something wonderful to look forward too. What are we like?
Darrell also found another M & S treat of a Marmite type nature on his travels, but says we’ve got to wait until tomorrow for that ……..

Great! A very good idea to have it on special occasions, too.
Can you make something similar, yourselves? Using Marmite and butter?
My friend, Alan Monkeey, says you can his share of any Marmite products, as he really detest it. Maybe he could have your Wispa Gold quota in exchange 😉
Great review & looking forward to seeing what tomorrow’s food delight is.
Glad to read the sleepover was fun, if a little exhausting. Many more to follow I’m sure.
