OMG ….. We Have Been Found To Be Lacking!!!

As you know we have always held fast to an extremely robust 5 a day regime, when it comes to our fruit and vegetable intake, so imagine our utter dismay, to find, that after an on going study that 5 a day isn’t enough and our aforementioned robust regime has in fact been woefully lacking!!!
The new research says that 10 portions of fruit a day is best, but 7 is acceptable!!!! Now, if you count the three years (at least) that we have been adhering to our stringent 5 day day regime, we are all now in deficit of 2,190 portions each!!!!! It’s almost too dreadful to contemplate.
This is an awful lot of fruit and vegetables to consume in order to make up the deficit ……  to be honest, we are not entirely sure that we can do it, as we would occasionally like to leave the table over the next few months  ……. AND there are conundrums to solve like …… does one large strawberry constitute as a portion or is it the whole box?  Oh mon gauche et mon droit ….. we have an awful lot of nomming to do!!!
For your information:- Small-sized fresh fruit - One portion is two or more small fruit, for example two plums, two satsumas, two kiwi fruit, three apricots, six lychees, seven strawberries or 14 cherries.

Seven strawberries for Nigel seems impossible, let alone seven a day.
Thanks for the educational information too. For me to eat seven a day, I would have to cut back.
Mr D the healthy.

Whew!!I hate to think how many fruit-veg portions I am missing!....guess I better give up some bakery favourites....do you think apple pie counts as a fruit portion?...or is chocolate a veg since it is made from cocoa beans?.......here's hoping cause Easter baskets are looming.....Dianne
