Iceland just keeps on getting betterer and betterer and betterer, and is robustly surpassing all our wildest dreams of a Geological type nature. Nigel and I have been so blessed in a Hello Magazine type to have seen so many wonderful things ……. and yesterday morning was no exception ……..
…… when we went to the Laki lava field! Perhaps it couldn’t be described exactly as “romantic”, because it was soooooooooo surreal!
It was of miles and miles, as far as the eye could see of moss covered lava ……
Nigel described it as if we were under the sea, but all the sea had been sucked out, leaving just the slimy seaweed cover rocks.
It was stunning …….…… and we learnt so much history, it almost made Nigel’s poor brain pop, he has never had so much information going into it such big doses ….. …… like how the Grímsvötn volcano and an adjoining fissure erupted up in 1783 and how its impact was felt all over the world, even in our country ….. but possibly not Wolverhampton.
It was hard to drag ourselves away, it’s weirdness mixed with its beauty had thoughtful and (non Derek Acorah) spooky effect on us.
……… and he had mahooooooosive waterfalls to show us ……

Another great trip.
Pumice hunting? Careful, those pumice can be dangerous when cornered. Very rough indeed. How about finding a holey pumice stone? Mum could use it on her feet.
