A Day Of Rampant and Robust Festive Emotional For Nigel

Alex, Nigel’s friend at school, popped in to see him yesterday morning brandishing a small gift bag with his name on.  Alex and her mum, you will remember were the ones who sorted out a hard hat and high viz vest for Nigel when all the building work was being done and who knit me the unforgettable volcano balac-lava when we went to Iceland.  So they are very special to us.
Nigel was a little taken aback ……
……. this was a most wonderful unexpected surprise.
Inside the bag was an envelope addressed to The Family at Castle Greysquirrel ….. that’s us ……..
……. and inside was a card with a cryptic message that said “We had a word with the Safety Elf and he knew exactly where to find boots for Nigel”……..
…… and then,  Nigel very carefully took out and unwrapped the parcel that was also in the bag ……. and what he found inside made his eyes grow as big as saucers ….. he had never seen anything so wonderful.
Alex’s mum had made him the most perfect pair of green pixie boots, (which matched his jumper) sewn with the tiniest of stitches, with red lace round the ankles and real jingle bells on the toes …… they were like something you only read about in fairy stories, but they were real and for Nigel …………
……. and fitted him perfectly.  Nigel, just stared at them and then stared at Alex, and then gave her a huge hug ….. saying thank you to Alex and asking her to say thank you to her mum over and over again.  It was very, very emotional, robustly emotional in fact.
A little after Alex had left, Darrell popped in to see what all the commotion was about and Nigel proudly showed him his boots …….
It has to be said that Nigel had done a valiant job in holding it all together until then but then it got too much ……..
……. this was the most wonderful, kind and thoughtful present in the whole wide world ……….
……. Nigel very felt blessed, not in a phony, faux Hello Magazine type way but in a having very special friends type way …… how could he ever say a big enough “Thank You” to Alex and Alex’s Mum ….. especially when he had a lump the size of a golf ball in his throat .
XXXX THANK YOU ALEX AND ALEX’S MUM …….. for your magical gift of boots for Nigel and the calming effect they had on his overwhelming festive exuberance, he’s now a quiet as a mouse,  just sat looking at his feet and sighing , what is he like??????  XXXX

What a wonderful gift!
Well done Alex and her mum.
The advantage of the bells is that you will always know where he is in the castle, if he is up to no good.
