We have decided that we need to get out more in the evenings for a little stimulation of an intellectual matter type nature …..
…. and to this end we have decided to partake in the weekly quiz night at The Bull up the road, once a month …. going under the team name of Mums Monkeys.
On arrival we decided, after some robust and heated debate, that Darrell should be the scribe for the team, writing, if we weren’t 100% sure of the answer, a few of the salient words from question, so that we would be able to go back to it, if time allowed, at the end of the round….. whilst I was put in charge of giving considered answers and getting the pints and crisps in….
…. It was a much, much harder than we anticipated ….. we didn’t have a clue “how many times a Phoenix can rise from the flames” or where was the Magna Carta signed (we put at the bottom…) and as for the picture round - “Big Buildings of the World”, we had a guess at ALL of them, but according to us, most of them were in Wolverhampton and a couple in Bilston ….. but, we did know that the sequel to the film Ghostbusters was Ghostbusters 2 and so when they announced the answer a great cheer came from our table!
But it really didn’t matter …. that we came 32nd out of 33, as we are not overly competitive by nature, and we have a magnanimous propensity of making others around us look intelligent. What was important was that we had a great time in convivial company ….. plus there were free chip butties akimbo between the Music and the History Round ……

Well boys like the saying goes.......It's not the winning but the taking part..........and especially if there are FREE chip butties......make mine a seat next to Marcs.....and I'll sneak my encyclopedia about my personage. JantheFan x
Are those pints of beer you are drinking? Is that legal?
I am going to a quiz in a bar tonight but there are no chip butties to be seen. Quizzes are fun.
Looks like a good time was had by all and it can't get any better than that! A perfect team name... Wonder what Nigel was up to during your boys night out....Dianne
Brilliant! You look like you had a fabulous time - particularly with the refreshments. Definitely getting out of the house for (and expanding your minds) :-D
