There were two “vacancies” on the Psychology Department’s trip to Chester Zoo yesterday, and Nigel and I were asked if they could make ourselves “available” to accompany them.
As far as we were concerned it was an invitation of a no brainer type nature … although, can we stress, it was not a junket, we had a very specific role of great import to play……
….. namely, the collection and supervision of the sick bucket, bin bags and First Aid Box, a position of great responsibility, though we hoped robustly that the aforementioned sick bucket would not be required in any shape or form ….
…… and so duly handed a barley sugar sweetie to each student as they boarded the bus, informing them that barley sugar was the official confectionary of choice for the trip and that we rather that they didn’t consume any other confectionary of a sticky and chewy type nature while we were in charge of the aforementioned, aforementioned sick bucket ….
…. the thought of which was already making Nigel feel a little “green round the gills”, so I suggested that he make sure that we had an ample sufficiency of bandages to cater for all emergencies, in the first aid box, to keep his mind otherwise occupied!
With a total of four triangular bandages (to name but a few), it was reassuring to know that we could at least cater for a whole plethora of arm injuries, should they arise …. and thus reassured, felt able to enjoy the rest of our journey to the zoo.
…….. to be continued.
