Continued ….. Our “Working” Type Visit To Chester Zoo And Nigel’s Call Of The Wild?

085Although it has been less than a year since we were last at Chester Zoo,  it didn’t detract at all from Nigel’s natural excitement,  once we got off the coach …..
studying map of chester zoo….. he had a clear plan of all the animals he wanted to visit and his map was out before you could say “enclosure”! The students were there to make in-depth observations of animal behaviour, they would not have gone far wrong if they had chosen to observe Nigel, bless him.
call of the wildNaturally,  the Ape House was our first port of call ….. it was there that Nigel said, a little sadly,  that although he felt pretty domiciled (?) there were times when he “thought” he felt the “call of the wild” and was almost taken over by the overwhelming urge to thrown caution to the wind and swing robustly until he was sated …..
Nigel feels the call of the wildI said I thought what he was probably experiencing something called “nature versus nurture” and that he might like to discuss his feelings with one of the psychology staff on the coach on the way back.  At poignant and moving times like this I have to remember that Nigel came to us free with a box of teabags ……
animal adoptions….. and so it was little wonder that at times he does get a little befuddled and that his whimsical notion of offering himself to the zoo for adoption was just part of the emotion of the day and not a true reflection of his life with Darrell and I at Castle Greysquirell …..
To be continued ……

So Nigel wants to be adopted by the zoo? I think he has got it the wrong way round.

Marc,
Tell Rick that Chichen Itza is great but get there early as possible to avoid the crowds and the heat. There are some interesting cenotes nearby. A few friends have been to Holbox and really liked it. Tulum is very nice too.
I recommend Negra Modelo, Dos Equis and Pacifico beers.
