There’s Nothing Romantic About Our Skip

019Other peoples skips always seem to have a frissant of romance and excitement about them ……..
027…… you never know what discarded treasures may lie beneath …….
024…. however, the skip currently outside Castle Greysquirrel, hired while we are undergoing its restoration ……
028…… can not be regarded, in any shape or form as being aforesaidedily romantic or having the slightest element of mystery about it  ……
029…… because for Darrell and I it represents hours and hours of robust and manly hauling, with only the occasional cup of tea, as we got so dirty we didn’t like to go in the kitchen and leave another trail of devastation behind us …….
030It was definitely not a glamorous or de rigueur activity  …….
022And as for our self appointed site manager, offering up “helpful” suggestions  …… we are not saying a word, lest we appear rude and less than grateful!!

Hopefully your skip doesn't get filled with other peoples' rubbish.
I wonder why they are called skips.
Dianne - are they called skips in the USA?

The site manager might have some very interesting views on all that rubble....it's true, our own rubble never seems as fascinating as other peoples......hope everything in there actually belongs and not some family treasure that accidently fell in!...Dianne

No, Mr. D.....usually called waste disposal sites or commonly called "The Dump" or "The City Dump" but am familiar with the skip from all my British shows, movies, books, etc. In the US you rarely have access to those places....you can take things there but you give them to attendants.....usually you can't actually see the where all is dumped as they are behind gigantic berms or huge grass covered mounds.... almost like good sized hills; the sea gulls circling are the give away...usually each day the dump area is covered with dirt getting ready for the next layer....some cities also offer recycling areas where you drop things off....Dianne
